Water Leaks and Burst Pipes

As expected during the winter months, the weather gets colder, and the chances of rain increase. Unfortunately, this means that the chances of water and flood damage also increase.

The damage from burst pipes and water damage can be devastating. We see it on a daily basis when carrying out pre-claim visits and see the impact it can have on a family.

Recently when we were out at two different visits we took images to show you what to look out for so that you can prevent water damage completely, or minimise the damage before it worsens.

Example #1 - Collapsed Ceiling

A collapsed ceiling is a very strong indicator of a buildup of water. There is a good chance that damp patches will appear that will be visible and you will start to notice the ceiling collapsing. The longer you leave this without treating it increases the chances of your ceiling collapsing completely.

Below is an example of what you need to look out for;

Example #2 - Burst Pipe & Leak

A burst pipe or leak both have the potential to cause a lot of damage in a short space of time. When we arrived at this job we noticed water stains on the wall and floor. strong indicators that a leak has occurred.

Using the Protimeter we were able to measure damp underneath the tiles and as expected underneath the concrete was saturated.
